Patients need to be taken care of. Doctors need to understand as to how difficult it is to live in sickness and look at everyone being healthy and better off. There have been thousands of cases in the US alone where a hospital, doctor or healthcare professional through a neglect act or omission, have caused an injury to the patient.

Though surgical procedures that were once impossible have become common and safe, sometimes errors occur because of a surgical team’s negligence. When a surgical error occurs, it often results in long term injuries or even death for the patient.

The Journal of the American Medical Association states that besides cancer and heart disease, medical negligence is one of the leading causes of death in the United States. It has been estimated that around 98,000 people pass out each year after sustaining injuries from different form of medical malpractices.

When a person is injured from medical malpractice, a lawsuit against a doctor or health care provider is usually the furthest thing from his or her mind.

Medical malpractice occurs when the patient suffers from any kind of harm caused by a medical professional (including doctors, nurses and other participants) who fail to act upon their medical duties.
