The PA Social Security attorneys at The Pisanchyn Law Firm focus their resources on providing representation to our clients seeking disability (SSD) and supplemental income (SSI) benefits from The Social Security Administration. As we advise all of our clients, filing for these benefits initially is something most people can do on their own through their local Social Security Office.

SSD and SSI help people who have been disabled and are unable to earn income to sufficiently support themselves.

If you have been injured/disabled or diagnosed with a terminal illness as a result of a workplace accident or occurrence, you may be eligible for both workers’ compensation and Social Security Disability.

Once someone files for benefits, they will either receive benefits or be denied. More often than not we see disabled people get denied by The Social Security Administration. DO NOT LET THIS DISCOURAGE YOU.

WHAT CAN YOU DO IF YOU’VE BEEN DENIED SOCIAL SECURITY?

Once you receive your initial denial you will have 60 days to file an appeal. The moment you receive your denial you should contact our Social Security attorneys. We will explain the process to you in detail. For you, filing the appeal is as easy as a few signatures to start the process; The Pisanchyn Law Firm will do the rest!

The best part about choosing our PA Social Security attorneys to represent you for your Social Security Appeal is that we will NEVER charge you a fee until we are successful in obtaining your benefits.

HOW DO I KNOW IF I QUALIFY FOR SSD OR SSI?

Social Security Disability (SSD) and Supplemental Income (SSI) have different requirements for eligibility. SSD benefits accrue to workers according to lifetime taxable working income. SSI income is available to older adults or individuals with disabilities whose income and assets fall below a certain threshold.

  • SSD – You might qualify for SSD if you suffer from a qualifying disability or illness that prevents you from working or performing your normal responsibilities at work for at least one year. Your work history must show that you have worked enough years to be eligible for benefits.
  • SSI – SSI income is available to older adults or individuals with disabilities whose income and assets fall below a certain threshold. This differs from SSD in that work history is not a factor in deciding if you are eligible. The Social Security Administration measures your eligibility by determining your income level and the value of all your resources. This means they take any cash, bonds, stocks, or any other asset that can be converted to cash into consideration.
